“Early in my career, I began to see and understand the correlation between the work of the food bank and the tragic impacts of poverty, substance abuse, mental health disorders and incarceration I witnessed growing up. From that time on, food-banking became a purpose in life for me. Sharing this work with other people that see purpose in it too is among the greatest joys in life. It’s all about the people.”
Help us stuff the train with donations! Local businesses, organizations, churches and schools are invited to host a food & funds drive to support neighbors facing hunger in Wayne County. Collect shelf-stable food and monetary donations, then deliver them to the train, where Foodbank staff and volunteers will help pack it full of generosity for local families in need.
Curing hunger is a long shot – but it’s the difficult shot that we must take! The annual Barry Weidner Memorial Golf Tournament is our family’s way of chipping away at the problem of hunger in our community and surrounding areas one putt at a time.
Each year we organize a golf scramble tournament to honor the memory of Barry Weidner at the Chippewa Golf Course in Doylestown, Ohio.
