PLEASE NOTE:

  • You must be at least 10 years old to volunteer. Youth volunteers age 15 and under must be accompanied by a parent, legal guardian or group chaperone.
  • To promote a safe experience, space is limited for all volunteer opportunities.
  • To ensure a space is open, it is important for all volunteers to sign up for a time slot prior to arrival.
  • Open-toed shoes and jewelry are not permitted in our warehouse when handling food.

Food pantry volunteers needed at Main Campus in Akron

Volunteers in the pantry sign in guests, pack orders, restock items and help with guest registration/intake.

Volunteers Needed:
Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays: Pantry & Registration Volunteers: 8:15am-11am, 10:45am-1:15pm; Pantry Restock: 2pm-4pm  

Registration/intake volunteers should be comfortable using technology. Guest assistance and order packing volunteers should be able to lift up to 40 pounds. Restock volunteers place items in freezers, coolers and on pantry shelves and should also be able to lift 20-40 pounds.

Monday: 9am-11am, 12:30pm-3:30pm
Tuesday: 8:30am-11am, 11am-1:30pm, 1:30pm-4pm

Second Saturday of each month: 8:30am-11:30am

Volunteer drivers & route partners needed in Canton

We are seeking volunteer drivers and route partners to support our food rescue program, Community Harvest. Volunteers work in pairs to pick up food donations on weekday mornings from restaurants and grocery stores in Stark County and deliver them to hunger-relief partners. 

Volunteer drivers operate a refrigerated Foodbank box truck (no CDL required). Volunteers pick up and distribute an average of 500-1,200 pounds of food in containers weighing 10-40 pounds each. The route begins at the Stark County Campus in Canton and lasts 4-6 hours. We are seeking volunteers willing to make a 6-month commitment, volunteering 2-4 times per month. If you are interested, please contact Tasha Ledrich at 330.777.1065 or tledrich@acrfb.org.

Home delivery program volunteer drivers needed

We are seeking volunteer drivers to support our home delivery program. Volunteers will deliver food to individuals' homes twice per month using their own vehicle. Volunteers will need to have a smartphone with internet access. Drivers can sign up for individual shifts or for a consistent and regular route.

What volunteer opportunities are available?

Warehouse Opportunities
Volunteers have a hands-on experience sorting, inspecting, relabeling or repackaging donated food.

Office Opportunities
Volunteers assist with filing, computer data entry, mailings and other essential administrative duties.

Neighborhood Distributions
Volunteers have a hands-on experience loading groceries into cars and assisting families as-needed at this monthly drive-thru food distribution. This opportunity takes place outdoors rain or shine.

Special Events
Volunteers assist with events, activities, campaigns and food drives throughout the year.

Skilled Volunteers

When can I volunteer?

Volunteer shifts are available Monday-Friday and are 2-3 hours long.

Both Campuses

  • For individuals: 8:30am-3:30pm; break for cleaning 11:30am-12:30pm
  • For groups: 9am-11:30am; 1pm-3:30pm

Akron Only

  • Second and fourth Wednesday evenings: 4:30pm-6:30pm
  • Saturdays (except holiday weekends): 8:30am-11am
