Peggy and Troy arrive at The Salvation Army Barberton early Friday morning before the start of the grocery distribution. Peggy and Troy are neighbors and their friendship is evident - both live alone and enjoy one another’s company as they wait. They live in the same apartment complex and because Troy does not have a vehicle, Peggy drives them to the distribution.

Both Peggy and Troy express gratitude for the additional groceries they receive through the distribution. Peggy pays it forward by giving any fresh produce and bread she is unable to eat in time to her neighbors and saving the canned goods for when she’s running low on fresh groceries.

“God bless everyone that makes this possible,” Peggy said with a smile. She wants more people to understand that many people in Barberton struggle with hunger, especially now with inflation causing the cost of groceries and gas to go up. People that seek out the extra help are truly in need. Troy added, “I’m grateful we can come here for help and everyone is kind and compassionate, no one here is looking down on us for needing the help.”

Your support helps our neighbors, like Peggy and Troy, know the difference between hunger and hope.
