Everyone deserves access to fresh, nutritious food and affordable health care, but this week, the U.S. Senate passed a bill cutting funding for SNAP and Medicaid — programs that keep millions of families fed, healthy, and stable.
If this bill becomes law, Ohio could be responsible for nearly $400 million a year in new administrative costs. That would force our state to either raise taxes, cut other essential services or reduce food assistance for every vulnerable Ohioan. Cuts to Medicaid would leave even more families without the care they need. Reducing funding for these programs hurts our communities and costs us all more in the long run.
The Senate may have passed this bill, but it’s not over yet. We need the U.S. House of Representatives to act. Ohio families are counting on them to reject this harmful legislation and protect the programs that protect our people.
Urge your members of Congress to reject cutting more than $1 trillion from these vital social safety net programs.
