In 2010, Michael joined the Foodbank as a Marketing Specialist. Shortly after, he initiated the creation of CORE, a group for young professionals interested in expanding their networks while supporting neighbors facing hunger. He has served in a variety of progressive roles within the Marketing department, expanding his expertise and taking on increasing leadership responsibilities.
Michael is a leading voice in the marketing space, and his excellence has been recognized through a variety of awards and accolades. In 2013, Michael received a 30 for the Future award from the Greater Akron Chamber and was named the Foodbank’s Employee of the Year. In 2014, Michael received a Distinguished Sales & Marketing Award from Sales and Marketing Executives International of Akron. In 2021, he was named a Notable Marketing Executive by Crain’s Cleveland.
Today, Michael serves as Vice President of External Affairs where he manages the Foodbank’s external affairs teams including marketing, communications, community engagement and volunteerism. Michael has carefully cultivated the Foodbank’s brand and leads initiatives that engage audiences of all ages, ensuring the brand remains strong, authentic and reflective of the Foodbank’s mission.
Prior to joining the Foodbank, Michael held various marketing roles, with progressive management experience in graphic design, corporate marketing and event management. Michael holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology from the College of Wooster.
Michael is an active community leader, serving on various boards, including Torchbearers, where he served from 2013 to 2018 and as president in 2017. He is a graduate of Leadership Akron’s Signature Program, Class 36, and is a member of Akron Rotary.
Michael resides in west Akron with his partner, Patrick, and their son, Aiden. He enjoys attending baseball games with his family, long weekend getaways, and staying up-to-date with the latest tech products.
