Join the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank as they partner with iHeartMedia for the Long Haul Against Hunger event on Friday, Dec. 1. Community members interested in supporting the Foodbank are encouraged to drive by and drop off monetary donations and non-perishable food items on this day.

Donations will be accepted at two Giant Eagle locations in Canton and Akron from 6:00am-7:00pm during live broadcasts from participating iHeartMedia radio stations. Volunteers will be onsite to accept monetary donations and to help unload food donations from vehicles.

“We’re proud to support the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank over the years,” said Keith Kennedy, radio personality and area senior VP of programming for iHeartMedia. “They are a vital resource in our community, dedicated to helping those struggling with hunger. It’s important that we, as a community, rally together to help support them this holiday season.”

All community members, and especially listeners of 98.1 KDD, My 101.7, Rock 106.9, 640 WHLO, Fox Sports 1350 and 99.7 Canton’s New Country, are invited to participate in this annual event to help support our neighbors in need this holiday season. Organize a food and funds drive with your friends, family, church, school or social organization and drop off donations received on this exciting day. Create an online fundraising page at akroncantonfoodbank.org/longhaul.

Because of support from Summa Health, FirstEnergy Foundation, The J.M. Smucker Company and the 415 Group, monetary donations made throughout the day will be matched. Every $1 donated = 8 meals.

Drop-off locations:
• Akron: Giant Eagle, 2775 W. Market St., Fairlawn, in the Marc’s/Lucky Shoes plaza
• Canton: Giant Eagle, 6493 Strip Ave. NW North Canton, at The Strip

If you can't make it to either location but would still like to participate in the Holiday Campaign, make a donation by visiting akroncantonfoodbank.org/longhaul and your gift will also be matched.
