While Feb. 1, 2015 may be the most exciting day of the football season, for Chef Sherry Schie, owner of SHY Cellars, it’s the evening before that bringsexcitement and competition. Chef Schie, winner of the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank’s local Taste of the NFL event, and her team will be heading to Scottsdale, AZ to represent the ProFootball Hall of Fame and the Foodbank at the national Taste of the NFL event.

The national Taste of the NFL will bring world-class cuisine, prominent chefs from around the country, NFL players, coaches, and sports legends to Scottsdale, AZ, location of the 2015
Super Bowl, on Sat., Jan. 31, 2015 at WestWorld of Scottsdale. At $700 a ticket, this event will unite 39 NFL football cities with local food banks and chefs to rally against hunger.

Hundreds of guests attend the event including Miss America and a live performance from Little Big Town. This will be her second year attending this national event and representing our local region as Team Pro Football Hall of Fame. Since returning from last year’s event, she has made it her personal mission to fundraise for the Foodbank through Kick Hunger Challenge, which puts winning Taste of the NFL chefs against each other in a fundraising competition for their local food banks.

Chef Schie has spent this past year hosting events and engaging the community to raise $42,800, enough for more than 171,000 meals! But Chef Schie isn’t finished yet. She has a goal of raising $100,000 for the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank before attending the national Taste of the NFL.

“We are humbled by the generosity and passion of Chef Schie and her team from SHY Cellars,” said Dan Flowers, president & CEO of the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank. “We are
incredibly proud to be on Team Pro Football Hall of Fame, and know they will make Northeast Ohio proud!”

Chef Schie will be taking with her to Arizona her 2014 award-winning shrimp and grits, consisting of triple cheese grits topped with sautéed shrimp and drizzled with a sweet and spicy
sauce garnished with bacon. “We are thrilled to be able to participate a second year at the national Taste of NFL,” said Chef Schie. “Hunger is a real issue in our country, and we shouldn't have to see the lines at the local food pantries getting longer.”
