Strong businesses help communities thrive; likewise, strengthening communities helps businesses thrive. Our partnership with the Foodbank is an essential part of our intent to leverage our strengths and resources to build resiliency in our community and reduce food waste.
--Avery Tan, Club Manager at Sam's Club
Sam’s Club is committed to local hunger relief. Although there are only three Sam’s Club stores in the Foodbank’s eight-county service area, the company consistently ranks among the top three food donors for the Foodbank.
Every week, a Foodbank semi-trailer makes nine visits to those stores and collects thousands of pounds of fresh produce, bakery, dairy and deli items and shelf-stable products. Sam’s Club also donates an assortment of frozen meat products, which tend to be in high demand for local families attempting to stretch their budget.
“Our philanthropic approach is rooted in our company’s mission to create opportunities so people can live better lives. It's important to us that the causes we support are effective in strengthening community cohesion and helping communities thrive,” said Avery. “Through our philanthropic investments, we strive to systematically address some of the biggest economic, environmental and social challenges faced in the world today.”
The heart of Sam’s Club’s mission is simple: to save people money and help them live better by providing convenient, affordable food and other essential products and services. Their significant partnership with the Foodbank is testament to their mission.
The Foodbank is deeply grateful for Sam’s Club’s efforts as they support food insecurity. They are truly making an impact on our community. It’s because of partners like them that the Foodbank and its network of hunger-relief partners can serve as the difference between hunger and hope for so many neighbors in our region.
