Thank you for advocating on behalf of your Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank, our network of hunger-relief partners and the thousands of individuals who receive food during their time of need. Because of your support, we can continue to provide nutritious, locally grown food through the Ohio Agricultural Clearance Program and Ohio Food Program within our eight-county region struggling with food insecurity because of the recently approved biennial budget for Ohio’s food banks.
The Foodbank extends its deepest gratitude to the Ohio General Assembly for its increased support of $24.55 million per year to fund hunger relief in the 2020-2021 state budget, allowing for the continuation of critical food programs for people facing hunger. An additional $5 million was included into the budget and led through by members of the Senate, resulting in significant investments for Ohioans and our local community. Because hunger affects so many facets of a person’s life, this increase will not only help provide more nutritious food for our neighbors in need, but will encourage educational achievement among children, employee productivity and overall healthcare outcomes for our community.
