The Foodbank has begun work on an exciting expansion project at its Main Campus in Akron. This is the second phase of the organization’s capital campaign, the first being the construction of the Stark County Campus.

A series of critical renovations will include an addition of a new network partner welcome center and distribution docks on the south side of the building. The freezer and cooler capacity will be doubled, and a food pantry, similar to the one in the Stark County Campus, will also be added. Office and community spaces will also be renovated.

Construction activity will impact parking availability at the Foodbank’s Main Campus in Akron. Volunteers and guests are encouraged to carpool when possible. Dedicated parking will be available in the Shipping & Receiving parking lot, east of the Foodbank’s main entrance, accessed from Opportunity Parkway. The gate will be open, Monday-Friday from 7:30am-2:30pm, with extended hours to accommodate evening and weekend volunteer opportunities. Once parked, guests enter the building through the red door labeled Volunteer Entrance – this will bring them directly into the volunteer center. Volunteers should proceed to the lobby to check in.
