The Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank is currently recruiting one AmeriCorps VISTA, Hunger and Health Coordinator to join in our fight to end hunger throughout our eight-county service territory. The AmeriCorps VISTA program is Volunteers in Service to America, which is a national service program where you commit to serve for a full year with our Foodbank. The Hunger and Health Coordinator will create a framework for Foodbank partnerships that connect hunger and health and increase access to nutritious, fresh foods for food insecure patients.
Hunger and Health Coordinator job duties include:
- Research best practices relates to food insecurity and adverse health outcomes
- Develop and implement a new form of partnership with local healthcare providers and other community partners that addresses food insecurity and diet-related disease
- Create and refine a data tracking system to monitor the number of individuals utilizing the pilot program
- Develop a case study identifying the stengths and weaknesses of the pilot program
- Host education sessions with Foodbank staff and other stakeholder groups regarding outcomes of the pilot program
- Perform other duties, as assigned

Requirements:
- Minimum 18 years old
- College graduate (preferred)
- Comfortable with Office 365
- Passion for community service
- Able to track and analyze data and present the results
- Comfortable with written communications and public speaking
- Access to reliable transportation
- Proficient in preparing and executing effective communication strategies, both verbal and written, to a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders
- Able to research, analyze and troubleshoot problems - able to apply learning appropriately
