Take Action to Help End Hunger in our Community During Hunger Action Month

Aug 29, 2014

The Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank joins more than 200 Feeding America food banks across the nation to celebrate September as Hunger Action Month.

By participating in Hunger Action Month, community members will help raise awareness for the 1 in 7 individuals who experience hunger in our community, and be invited to become involved in making a tangible difference in the fight to end hunger.

“Many of our neighbors live in crisis every day, forced to make difficult choices,” said Dan Flowers, President and CEO of the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank. The pressure on our Foodbank is as great as ever, and Hunger Action Month is your opportunity to join us, in a movement that has a real and lasting impact on our effort to feed those hungry families.”

Here’s how you can take action this month:

Wear orange, the color of hunger relief, on Sept. 4, 2014 to show your support for Hunger Action Month. Then, tag the Foodbank on social media using the hash tag #HungerAction.
Download our 30 Ways in 30 Days calendar, with 30 quick and easy ways to fight hunger in our community.
Grab a group of family members, friends or coworkers, and volunteer for our second annual 24-hour volunteer event, Operation Orange on Sept. 5-6, 2014.

In honor of Hunger Action Month and Operation Orange, the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank has received a generous donation of $15,000 from the Dominion Foundation to help feed people in our service region.
