Foodbank encourages community to support local hunger relief through Celebrity Cuisine

Apr 05, 2023

Community members are encouraged to support local hunger-relief efforts through the Tri-County Restaurant Association Celebrity Cuisine, presented by Atlantic Food Distributors. The 31st annual event is expected to welcome more than 1,000 guests on April 18 at the Canton Memorial Civic Center. Celebrity Cuisine benefits the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank and its work to fight food insecurity across eight counties.

Food enthusiasts from all over Northeast Ohio will delight in a feast of local flavors, including unlimited access to appetizers, entrée samples, beer, wine and desserts from more than 40 restaurants and purveyors. The event has been dubbed the Best Happy Hour in Stark County and will include live music by local favorite, Hey Monea, and entertainment by The Kenny & JT Show of News-Talk 1480 WHBC.

Guests can support hunger relief through an exciting silent auction, raffles and more. General admission is $50 per person. For more information and to buy tickets, please visit

“Celebrity Cuisine has been a wonderful opportunity for people to come together in support of local hunger relief,” said Dan Flowers, Foodbank president and CEO. “This event is unique in that it engages so many people across the region – businesses, restaurants and purveyors, volunteers – all for a common cause – to feed our neighbors facing hunger.”

Proceeds from Celebrity Cuisine help the Foodbank provide the equivalent of thousands of meals to food programs within the organization’s hunger-relief network. As 47,000 individuals in Stark County lost nearly $4.5 million in food benefits beginning in March, the Foodbank and it’s network has served as a place to turn for these families. The additional pandemic-related food benefit given to each family through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program expired in March.
