September is Hunger Action Month, when we ask everyone in our community to take action against hunger in our area, all month long. Hunger Action Month is your opportunity to join a movement that has a real and lasting impact on our effort to feed more individuals and families facing food insecurity.
Whether it’s by advocating and raising awareness, making donations or volunteering, we hope you can find a way that’s right for you to make a difference during Hunger Action Month.

- The Foodbank, in conjunction with the Ohio Association of Food Banks and 11 other Ohio food banks, continues to push a request to the state for $50 million in emergency funds for food and personal care items. Inflation, supply chain issues and less available food from federal programs have made it difficult for food banks to respond to the need for food for local families. The Foodbank is encouraging the community to contact state legislators to ask Ohio house and senate leadership to act on the funding request. Click here to find a list of state legislators. Sample verbiage for your use: Please support the request by the Ohio Association of Foodbanks and the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank for a release of $50 million in flexible American Rescue Plan Act dollars to purchase food and personal care items. This funding is critical for food banks and will enable them to serve our community members facing hunger.
