Your Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank succeeds in helping fight hunger in our community because of the amazing partnerships it has forged with local organizations. Westfield Group has been a steadfast corporate partner of the Foodbank for several years. Westfield has supported the Foodbank’s various events, consistently sends volunteers to help work in the warehouse, and most recently, allowed the Foodbank to bring a volunteer project to its campus.

“Westfield and their associates have been significant supporters of the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank for nearly 10 years,” said Leslie Letner-Genovese, senior manager of major partners and corporate relationships. “They make important contributions of monetary funds, Board of Directors leadership, and encourage employee volunteerism. We are proud to partner with them to implement this unique volunteer opportunity for their dedicated team members.”

For some Westfield employees, because of their role within the organization, it’s difficult to leave the office. They haven’t had the opportunity to engage in volunteer work at the Foodbank. Earlier this month, the Foodbank brought the work to them. A semitrailer filled with Ohio grown apples, sorting bins and scales were set-up in a Westfield parking lot. On a crisp, fall day, 14,500 pounds of apples were sorted into 5 pound bags. Nearly 150 volunteers participated in the event.

“Our employees love this. It’s their opportunity to take care of those in our community who aren’t as fortunate,” said Jennifer Willis, a document management leader who spearheads volunteer activities for Westfield. “The underlying tone of helping others, giving back to the community, it’s the Westfield way.”
