(ST. PAUL, Minn.) Aug. 31, 2010….Land O'Lakes, Inc. today donated 39,600 pounds, nearly 160,000 sticks, of LAND O LAKES® Margarine to the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank.

The delivery of LAND O LAKES® Margarine is Land O'Lakes eighth donation in its "First Run" program. As part of the "First Run" program, Land O'Lakes has committed to donating a truckload of fresh product to a food bank each month in 2010 to help alleviate hunger nationwide.

"As a national, farmer-owned cooperative, Land O'Lakes is committed to helping the growing number of people struggling to put food on their table," said Land O'Lakes Foundation Executive Director Lydia Botham. "The 'First Run' program provides a unique opportunity for Land O'Lakes to provide a fresh, nutritious product to families who can enjoy it."

The Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank will distribute the donation through its network of more than 430 community organizations that operate food pantries, hot meal sites and other hunger relief programs in Carroll, Holmes, Medina, Portage, Stark, Summit, Tuscarawas and Wayne counties.

"We provide food to more than 40,000 different people each week and this donation will go a long way, " said Dan Flowers, President and CEO of the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank. "We thank Land O'Lakes for this very generous donation."

The "First Run" program encourages collaboration with local Land O'Lakes supply chain partners to help maximize capabilities. For this delivery, supply chain partner donations include:

• Catty Corporation (margarine wrap)
• RockTenn Company (cartons)
• Temple-Inland, Inc. (corrugated cases)
• Midwest Coast Transport (transportation)
