Those looking for a deeper volunteer experience should consider participating in the Hunger in America 2014 Study. We need volunteers to accompany Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank staff on interviews with clients at our member agency sites.
Between April and August 2013, the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank will be participating in a nationwide survey sponsored by Feeding America, the national network of Food Banks. This study is conducted every four years.
Please consider volunteering to help gather information about why clients seek food assistance in our community. Volunteers will participate in teams to assist clients in the completion of a web-based survey in our eight county service area. Teams can expect to be at a site for 3 to 4 hours in order to complete the required interviews. Volunteers are asked to be comfortable with computer software and web-based applications.
Training is provided for volunteers and Foodbank staff will also accompany teams of volunteers at the various sites. The results of this study will be compiled and analyzed by Westat, the research firm conducting the study. This study provides Feeding America, the Foodbank and our agency network with the most comprehensive and statistically valid data on our local food distribution system and the people we serve.
