Call today to prevent more Ohioans from going hungry

Thursday, October 10, 2013 11:22:32 AM

The U.S. government is in day 10 of its shutdown, and if the shutdown continues for much longer, the Foodbank’s frontline food pantries and soup kitchens will see an overwhelming influx of individuals whose Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and Women, Infants & Children Supplemental Nutrition Program (WIC) benefits have run out. We CANNOT let this happen!

Please call your Representative today and tell them to stop the shutdown and protect nutrition programs. Call 1-888-659-9562 to be connected to your Representative.

Ask them to restore funding for all services vulnerable Ohioans count on, especially SNAP and WIC, whose majority of recipients are households with children. One in seven people in the Foodbank’s service region are food insecure, and do not have regular access to enough food for a healthy life. The potential impact if the shutdown continues into November will be devastating for our friends and neighbors who rely on the federal safety net as a first line of defense against food insecurity.

The call is simple. The message is critical. THANK YOU!
