Expansion Recall of Ground Turkey Products

Cargill Meat Solutions Corporation is recalling approximately 185,000 pounds of ground turkey products that may be contaminated with a multi-drug resistant strain of Salmonella Heidelberg. This is the same strain that initiated the August 2011 recall of ground turkey products. The newly recalled products include the brand names of Honeysuckle, HEB and Kroger. The newly recalled products are:

The above named products subject to recall bear the establishment number "P-963" inside the USDA mark of inspection and a “use or freeze by” date beginning September 10, 2011 through the end of September 2011.
There is a possibility that affected products may have been included in the following:
MEA1076: Description: Meat, Assorted 30lb. Repack.
MEA9887: Description: Meat Assorted Repack (items under 4 lbs. each)
MEA9888: Description: Meat Assorted Repack (items over 4 lbs. each)
If your agency has received any of the affected products, please stop using this product and throw it away immediately.

Very Important Recall of Ground Turkey Products

Cargill Meat Solutions Corporation is recalling approximately 36 million pounds of ground turkey products that may be contaminated with a multi-drug resistant strain of Salmonella Heidelberg. There are over 30 products affected by this recall including products under the brand names of Honeysuckle, Giant Eagle, Fit & Active, and Kroger. For a complete list of affected products, please see the bottom of this posting.

The products subject to recall bear the establishment number "P-963" inside the USDA mark of inspection as pictured above. This recall includes products with a “use or freeze by” date beginning February 20, 2011 through the end of August.

There is a possibility that affected products may have been included in Item Number: MEA1076, Description: Meat, Assorted 30lb. Repack. If your agency has received any of the affected products, please stop using this product and throw it away immediately.

Fresh Express Spinach Bags

There has been a precautionary recall of 9-ounce spinach bags packed by Fresh Express and distributed to Pennsylvania, New York, Maryland, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Maine and Ohio due to possible Salmonella contamination. No illnesses have been reported in connection to the recall spinach.

The recall involves spinach bags with product codes starting with H081 and H082, UPC code 7127913204 and use-by dates of April 6 and 7.

In response to this recall, the Foodbank has reviewed our product inventory and found that this item may have been distributed in the MarketPlace between April 1 -6, 2011.

Please stop using this product and discard immediately. Please see the Recall Flyer for a picture of the product and to print and post at your facility.

Triad Group First Aid Kits

There has been a voluntary recall of First Aid Kits manufactured by Triad Group and donated locally by Grainger. In response to this recall, the Foodbank reviewed our product inventory and found that this item was distributed in the MarketPlace between October 2010 and February 2011.

The recall includes both sterile and non-sterile products contained in the First Aid Kits. Please stop using this product and throw it away immediately. Please see the Recall Flyer for a picture of the product.

9/23/10 Abbott Voluntarily Recalls Certain Similac® Brand Powder Infant Formulas

THE SIMILAC ADVANCE INFANT FORMULA WITH IRON THAT WAS DISTRIBUTED BY THE FOODBANK IS PART OF THIS RECALL. All agencies who have received this product should discard the product and contact any clients that may have received this product immediately. The Foodbank will be contacting the involved agencies. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - Sept. 22, 2010 - ABBOTT PARK, Ill. - Abbott is initiating a proactive, voluntary recall of certain Similac-brand, powder infant formulas in the U.S., Puerto Rico, Guam and some countries in the Caribbean.

Abbott is recalling these products following an internal quality review, which detected the remote possibility of the presence of a small common beetle in the product produced in one production area in a single manufacturing facility. The United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has determined that while the formula containing these beetles poses no immediate health risk, there is a possibility that infants who consume formula containing the beetles or their larvae, could experience symptoms of gastrointestinal discomfort and refusal to eat as a result of small insect parts irritating the GI tract. If these symptoms persist for more than a few days, a physician should be consulted.

The recall of these powder infant formulas includes:

Certain Similac powder product lines offered in plastic containers.
Certain Similac powder product lines offered in sizes such as 8-ounce, 12.4-ounce and 12.9-ounce cans.

No Abbott liquid infant formulas are impacted. Products not involved in the recall include all Abbott Nutrition liquid ready-to-feed and concentrated infant formulas and all powder and liquid specialty formulas, such as Similac Expert Care™ Alimentum®, Elecare®, Similac Expert Care™ Neosure®, Similac® Human Milk Fortifier, and metabolic formulas for inherited disorders.

About the Recall

The company is implementing a plan to address this matter in the affected manufacturing facility, which is expected to be completed shortly. No other facilities or products are involved in this recall.
Abbott has consulted with the U.S. FDA regarding this recall.

Products with affected lot numbers should be returned to Abbott at no cost to the consumer.

Both the website and the consumer hotline have specific details on how to complete the return process.
