Be a Part of the Solution Today

Earlier this week, the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank distributed thousands of pounds of fresh produce to food insecure families in our community, and most of that food was provided by the state-funded Agricultural Clearance Program.
The Ohio Association of Foodbanks is requesting $20 million for Ohio's food banks in state fiscal year 2015 in order to provide more healthy food to those we serve. In our region, 15 percent of individuals are at risk of hunger, and recent cuts to SNAP (formerly food stamps) have made the demand even greater in our network of food pantries and hunger relief centers.
Can you help your hungry neighbors TODAY by making one brief phone call?
Here's how: Call the office of Governor John Kasich at (614) 466-3555.
- Tell them you are a supporter of the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank and thank the Governor for his past support of food banks. Ask them to support an increase of $20 million for the state fiscal year 2015 budget for the Ohio Food Program and Agricultural Clearance Program operated by the Ohio Association of Foodbanks.
- If you have a personal story about being hungry, or serving the hungry, please share your story.
- If you're feeling really passionate and helpful, share the same message with Senate President Keith Faber at (614) 466-7584 and Senate Finance Committee Chair Scott Oelslager at (614) 466-0626.
Your action today will have incredible impact. If you cannot make this call today, please forward this message to someone who will.
Thank you for your advocacy efforts!
