TEFAP

The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) is a Federal program that helps supplement the diets of low-income Americans, including elderly people, by providing them with emergency food and nutrition assistance. It provides food and administrative funds to States to supplement the diets of these groups. The food is provided to the Foodbank to distribute to our network of partner agencies.

Only emergency food providers (food pantries, hot meal sites and shelters) are eligible to receive food from this federal program. The food must be provided to any individual/household earning below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level at no cost. All clients must do to receive the food is sign a self-declaration of need form, commonly referred to as the TEFAP form.
