SNAP is the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program. Feeding America estimates that one SNAP application is worth 783 meals in the counties served by the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank. The Foodbank wants to ensure that clients understand and have access to this valuable resource to help them keep food on the table.
The Foodbank’s SNAP Outreach program focuses on helping the community understand the program and assisting clients with the application. There are 3 easy ways you can participate in the Foodbank’s SNAP Outreach program.
- Refer Your clients
The SNAP Referral Form and the online SNAP Referral Form allow you to help your clients access our SNAP application services in one quick step. When your agency sends the Foodbank a referral, our SNAP Outreach team will contact the client within one business day. A staff member will then help the client apply over the phone and connect with additional resources.
- Host a Visit
The Foodbank has three SNAP Outreach staff members who can attend agency distributions and complete applications for SNAP in person with clients. They simply speak with clients while they are waiting, after they get their food, or while they are eating and help the client complete the application in minutes. - Advertise Our Phone Line
The Foodbank can help people apply for SNAP over the phone. When your clients call toll free 855.560.0850, they will be connected with a member of the SNAP Outreach team who will screen and assist them with the application over the phone in minutes.
